Fertility Treatment

Fertility treatment has a long history in Chinese acupuncture. Family is, and was, hugely important to the Chinese who have a strong belief in ancestor worship. You pray to your ancestors for help and support in your daily life, and pray that your after-life will be supported by your descendents.

The desire for family is no less strong in today's society her in the West. Demands of work, finances and society mean that many couples are attempting to conceive relatively late in life. The emotional impact of fertility problems can be immense. Fertility levels are thought to be declining. Modern diets can lead to nutritional deficiencies; for the first time in history people are over-fed and under-nourished. Pollution, lack of exercise and chronic stress all take a toll on our health and fertility.

Acupuncture can help both male and female sub-fertility. Sub-fertility is a preferable term to infertility as infertility is such a final state. Research strongly shows that our physiology mirrors our beliefs - whilst some women cannot conceive without medical intervention, for many others the barriers to conception are much more surmountable.

In addition, acupuncture has been shown to have a significant impact on success rates of IVF but as with all areas of medicine what works for some will not work for all.

Whether you are at the start of your journey or have been trying to conceive for some time, acupuncture may be the answer. Acupuncture can be used as a stand-alone therapy or in conjunction with IVF. Each couple's needs are unique and it is often much easier to explain in person the extent to which acupuncture may help you. We would be happy to arrange for the therapist to contact you by phone or in person to discuss your case further.
